The Directorate of Minority Welfare, formed under General Administration Department in 2008, is a vibrant government initiative functioning under Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan, Hon’ble. Chief Minister, Kerala State for the overall welfare and advancement of notified minority communities,namely,Muslims,Christians, Buddhists,Sikhs,Jains,and Parsis. The Directorate is the nodal agency for implementing both Central and State schemes and projects intended for uplifting the minority communities in the state. Kerala State Commission for Minorities, State Competent authority, Kerala State Minority Development Finance Corporation, Kerala Madrassa Teachers' Welfare Fund Board, Coaching Centre for Minority Youth are the main functionaries of the Directorate. Social Empowerment is the guiding principle of the Directorate. Accordingly, the paramount objective of the Directorate is the overall welfare and advancement of minority communities in the state. To this end, the Directorate plans, implements, and oversees schemes and programmes conducive to provide opportunities for minority communities in all spheres of life and work. |
